Kick-off Acting Like a Robot Project (Cancelled)

On the 19th of March, a festive kick-off of the new research project Acting Like a RobotTheatre as Testbed for the Robot Revolution will take place.

Robots are rapidly becoming integrally part of the performance of everyday life, work, education, and leisure. This situation presents challenges to their developers with regard to their design as social agents. Acting Like a Robot brings together robot developers and experts from the theatre (practitioners and scholars) to develop innovative approaches to the design of the behavior of robots and the interaction between humans and robots. This project also investigates the potential of the theatre for imagining future scenarios for living with robots and how current developments in robotics open new terrain for explorations by theatre-makers.

Acting Like a Robot is a collaboration between Utrecht University (Theatre Studies/ research group Transmission in Motion), de Vrije Universiteit (AI/robotics), de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, Utrecht (Performative Creation processes), theatre company Ulrike Quade Company and SPRING Performing Arts Festival. This project is financially supported by NWO (SMART Culture ClSC.KC.205)

16:00: introduction of the project and our plans by Maaike Bleeker (UU), Koen Hindriks (VU) and Ulrike Quade (Ulrike Quade Company). Followed by drinks.
